When the heat is on, Echinacea flowers flourish! Echinacea, nature’s butterfly magnets, are native to the dry prairie states, and love the baking sun. Birds, especially Goldfinches, love the seeds, and will eat directly from the drying flower heads.
Echinaceas make gorgeous cut flowers, and the drying flower pods provide nice fall interest in the garden. Seeds not eaten by birds will often reproduce, growing your Echinacea crop. Plant with Russian sage, rudbeckia, and grasses for a prairie garden feel.
We sell a number of varieties of Echinacea from the purple ‘Magnus’, the unique blooms of the ‘double scoop’ line, the ‘Pow Wow’, the ‘Sombero Yellow’, and the cheerful candy colored mix in the ‘Cheyenne Spirit’ mix-my favorite.
All of our Echinacea are 15% this week for only $7.61 for a 1 gallon pot.
Echinacea like lots of sun, low fertilizer, and well drained soil.
